Electronics Value Recovery Celebrates Reman Day

Reman Day 2026 LogoWhy Does EVR Celebrate “Reman Day?”

What is “Reman Day”?  This year the date is April 23rd, the day after Earth Day.  Led by the Remanufacturing Industries Council (RIC), this is a global movement.  The purpose is to raise awareness of the importance of remanufacturing in the circular economy.   Like America Recycles Day and Global Recycling Day, Reman Day provides another the opportunity to demystify remanufacturing — and demonstrate why it matters.

Most people probably don’t think of “recycling” as remanufacturing.  In fact, it is a first link in the supply chain of the circular economy.  Whether you’re recycling at home or at the office, you’ve only collected recyclables.  But collection is not recycling.  Recycling businesses take the collected materials and prepare them to meet the specifications of the end-user. Recyclables that meet industry specifications can substitute for virgin raw materials.  The benefits attributed to recycling are really the benefits of remanufacturing.

Common Definition of Remanufacturing

Known by different names within different industry sectors, remanufacturing has been common in the automotive and commercial vehicle sectors and in aviation and aerospace for years.  It is only recently that consumer goods and electronics began remanufacturing products and devices.  To see the vast array of refurbished items available today, visit “Amazon Renewed” web.  Reman Day demonstrates the innovative ways members of all industry sectors are advancing remanufacturing.  It highlights the positive environmental impact of this global industry.  In 2016, six trade associations from around the world agreed upon a common definition of remanufacturing:

“Remanufacturing is a standardized industrial process by which previously sold, worn, or non-functional products are returned to same-as-new, or better, condition and performance. The process is in line with specific technical specifications, including engineering, quality, and testing standards. The process yields fully warranted products.”

Electronics Recycling is a Key Remanufacturing Industry

Remanufacturing is not only restoration.  It’s about maximizing the value of every device we handle. When something cannot be refurbished, we carefully harvest reusable parts,  ensuring those components continue to serve a purpose. Refurbished devices and recovered parts are then remarketed through our affiliated companies and long-standing, vetted partners.  This  extends their lifecycle and keeps valuable materials in use. Finally, when technology truly reaches the end of its useful life, we ensure it is responsibly and securely recycled.

As your trusted disposal partner, Electronics Value Recovery is committed to doing more than simply taking unwanted electronics off your hands.  We transform them. In an economy driven by technology and dependent on finite resources, our work helps recover critical materials, reduce waste, and make technology more accessible through reuse.

This Reman Day, we’re proud to be part of the shift toward a circular economy.  Responsible recycling and remanufacturing aren’t just good practice, they’re essential. When you choose EVR, you’re not just disposing of electronics.  You are ensuring they’re handled with purpose, integrity, and sustainability in mind.

This Reman Day, it’s worth remembering: what may look like the end of a device’s life is often just the beginning of its next chapter.
